HUNGER’S MVP of the week

Welcome to HUNGER’s Most Valuable Player, the place to find the best things to buy, watch, do or listen to each week. Forget about the hype, we want to separate what’s hot, what’s not, and what needs to be on your radar…

This week hasn’t been short of potential MVP announcements. There’s been a wave of notable drops from the likes of Stüssy x Nike, Stone Island x Supreme, Lazy Oaf x Crocs, Michael Kors x Ellesse, as well as the highly anticipated ‘Fendace’ collection from fashion houses Fendi and Versace. But what has really shone through the clothes is this week’s events calendar. There’ll always be new collaborations, but some events starting right now shouldn’t be missed.

To kick us off, The Standard Hotel’s opening of their rooftop garden is the perfect place to start, spend and end a night in London. With expansive 360 views, one of the capital’s most coveted drinking spots is definitely worth a mention. Head over not only for the sights but for the delectable chicken tacos with a side of nachos and homemade guacamole, then wash it all down with jugs of rum punch and soak up the summer sun.

But it’s the extensive, highly cultural and deeply creative exhibitions at the Photo London event in London that nabs this week’s MVP spot. Based in the heart of Somerset House, Photo London 2022 boasts a display of 106 exhibitors from 18 countries around the world, spanning a time period from the 1850s all the way up to the present day. As part of the event, Photo London’s Master of Photography, Nick Knight, presents ‘Nick Knight: Future’, which displays works from the 1980s, as well as pieces created exclusively for the fair.

In support of Ukraine, Photo London is also showing works from the Kharkiv School of Photography and a range of other photographers still working in Ukraine, including Philip-Lorca diCorcia’s works from Odessa.

Running from the 12 – 15 May, head down to this year’s Photo London to see some of the best, unmissable pieces of visual art around.
