Jacquemus announces collaboration with Nike

The French fashion house partners up with the Swoosh in what is set to be one of the year's most anticipated collections.

There have been rumours of this groundbreaking collaboration floating around since February 2020 when Ambush founder and Nike collaborator Yoon Ahn posted a photo on Instagram with the caption “Checks Over Stripes”. Featured in the photo was a selection of some of Nike’s well-known collaborators such as Virgil Abloh, Drake and Travis Scott. However, it also featured French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus who had no affiliation with Nike at the time.

Now, it’s been revealed that Jacquemus has been working on a collaboration with the activewear powerhouse for the best part of three years. Yesterday, the luxury label announced the partnership via Instagram, which featured a beach volleyball court with Jacquemus and Nike branding.

The collaboration will land exclusively on Jacquemus’ website on June 28th and will feature unisex clothing, with traditional womenswear designed for everyone. The 15-piece collection will feature Jacquemus’ take on Nike’s suede Humara sneaker. Additionally, pleated skirts, biker shorts and floppy duel branded bucket hats.

“For this collaboration with Nike, I wanted to create a collection that reinterprets athletic women’s sportswear in a minimal way,” 32-year-old Jacquemus said in a press release. “I have always been inspired by vintage ACG pieces and Nike campaigns from the ’90s. It was important that the collection be accessible to all bodies, and that it is a mix of Jacquemus style and Nike performance.”

Luckily, the partnership won’t just be limited to one collection. “The collection will grow—maybe something more Nike is coming, and then something more in between,” Jacquemus told Vogue.
