Johnny Depp set to tour the UK with rock band Hollywood Vampires

Depp will venture back into the music world with his band Hollywood Vampires next summer, following the high-profile defamation case with his ex-wife Amber Heard.

The supergroup, featuring Alice Cooper, Tommy Henriksen and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, have announced that they will kick off their UK tour on the 5th of July in North Yorkshire with bandmate Johnny Depp.

The news follows their 2020 tour cancellation, and comes after Depp gave fans a glimpse of his musical return after he made an appearance with guitarist Jeff Beck in Sheffield last May. Despite awaiting the outcome of an ongoing trial with ex-wife Amber Heard at the time, Depp managed to surprise fans at a handful of his following gigs, and he released  a cover of The Velvet Underground’s “Venus In Furs” with Beck shortly after in June.

Hollywood Vampires were formed in 2012 by Cooper, Depp and Perry, and have held guest musicians in their previous performances from the likes of Dave Grohl to Zak Starkey. The band pay tribute to the “great lost heroes of music” as well as performing their own stuff from their two albums, Hollywood Vampires (2015) and Rise (2019). They credit their name to the celebrity drinking club formed by Cooper in the 1970s, who were rumoured to never have seen the light of day in a last-man-standing game. After the jury ruled in favour of Depp during the seven-week-long multi-million defamation trial last June, he returned to the band in plans to head on tour with fellow bandmates. Following from dates in Europe, Sky News reports that Cooper states the band will “be rocking these places, especially the UK, I can’t wait to get to the UK. Lock your doors, put garlic all around, because the Vampires are coming.”

The band took to Twitter to announce the tour will kick off in Scarborough on the 5th of July, heading to Swansea, Manchester, London and Birmingham before finishing in Glasgow on the 12th of July. Tickets will go on sale on the 28th of October at 10 am.
