Kilder Is Very Online

Amsterdam based producer, DJ and musician Pepijn Willemse talks torrent sites, nostalgic noughties hits and social media breaks as this week's Internet Guide.

Already working with underground club legends LYZZA and Alice Longyu Gao, Kilder is set to be the name on everybody’s lips, or at least everyone’s Shazam. With a malleable sound drawing on everything from trance to indie, Kilder is the alias of Amsterdam-based DJ and producer Pepijn Willemse. And with a sparse and airy, yet danceable sound, his productions are the ideal soundtrack to melancholy summer nights.

To celebrate the release of his latest track “Crying at CVS” we slid into Pepijn’s DMs to discuss his first internet memory and guilty pleasure listening.

@hungermagazine: What’s your earliest Internet memory?

@thiskilder: I was around 7 or 8 years old. I was trying to figure out how I could download a song to my iPod Nano, I’m not sure if it’s the right thing to say but I used a torrent site for that… 😮

@hungermagazine: What are your five most-used emojis?

@thiskilder: 😎🥴🦦🚀🔥

@hungermagazine: You’ve switched to private mode on Spotify: what are you listening to?

@thiskilder: Nostalgic guilty pleasure songs from the 2000s

@hungermagazine: Do you use dating apps? Which ones?

@thiskilder: Never used them.

@hungermagazine: Have you ever been blocked?

@thiskilder: As far as I know, I’m not. Or maybe I’m just not aware of it…

@hungermagazine: Last person you stalked on IG?

@thiskilder: @afffirmations, the posts are so wrong which makes it so good.

@hungermagazine: What’s your most-used app?

@thiskilder: Spotify and Whatsapp. I listen to music and podcasts in the background a lot when I’m not working on music. Right now I’m listening to a lot of The Prodigy, Chem Brothers and Basement Jaxx.

@hungermagazine: What’s the longest amount of time you can go without being on your phone?

@thiskilder: I’d say like a full day without a phone, but I quite regularly take days or weeks off from all social media actually.
