Kim Kardashian says she’s going to do “crazy voodoo sh*t” after being gifted lock of Marilyn Monroe’s hair

The reality television star now owns a lock of the late actress's hair.

As we all know, Kim Kardashian took Marilyn Monroe’s infamous “Happy Birthday, Mr President” dress out for a spin at this year’s Met Gala — but it appears that her connection to the late actress only seems to be growing. In a video shared to the Ripley’s Believe It or Not’s social media accounts, it was revealed that Kardashian now also owns a lock of Monroe’s hair.

“During @KimKardashian’s Met Gala dress fitting at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! HQ, our team surprised her with a silver box that contained an actual lock of Marilyn’s iconic platinum hair,” the caption read. “The Ripley’s team also filled her Met Gala dressing room with a trove of Marilyn Monroe and JFK memorabilia to help inspire her look.”

Kardashian was understandably delighted. “Oh my god I’m literally going to do some crazy voodoo s**t and channel her,” she exclaimed when receiving the lock in a small box. “This is so special to me. Thank you so much, this is so cool.” Addressing her boyfriend, Pete Davidson, she added, “This is sleeping with me every night… sorry babe.”

Speaking about wearing the iconic dress to the Met Gala this year, the Skims founder told Vogue: “The idea really came to me after the gala in September last year. I thought to myself, what would I have done for the American theme if it had not been the Balenciaga look? What’s the most American thing you can think of? And that’s Marilyn Monroe. For me the most Marilyn Monroe moment is when she sang “Happy Birthday,” to JFK, it was that look.”

Kardashian wore the dress for 10 minutes at the Gala, whose theme this year was Gilded Glamour, before changing into a replica. Monroe, who starred in the likes of Some Like It Hot, famously wore the gown to serenade US President John F. Kennedy with a breathy rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’.

The 41-year-old’s sartorial decision didn’t come without controversy, however. Kardashian told Vogue that she lost 16 pounds in three weeks in order to fit into the dress — a move that has been widely criticised by social media users across the internet. “Kim Kardashian looked beautiful at the Met Gala, but she has promoted unrealistic body standards for YEARS (diet teas, waist trainers, $$$ procedures, etc) and her talking about losing 16 lbs in 3 weeks to fit into Marilyn’s dress (which no one should get to wear) is appalling,” commented one social media user in the wake of Kardashian’s remarks.
