Lady Gaga’s new album is out next month

Her sixth LP, 'Chromatica', is slated for release on 10 April. Little monsters rejoice!

Today (2 March) Lady Gaga has announced that she will be dropping an LP next month, on 10 April. Recently released track “Stupid Love” will serve as the album’s lead single, suggesting that after taking forays in pop ballads on 2018’s A Star is Born soundtrack, country with 2016 LP Joanne and jazz on Tony Bennett collaborative album Cheek to Cheek, she’s bringing back the dance-pop sound that first made her famous.

Speaking last week on Apple Beats Music 1 with presenter Zane Lowe, Gaga discussed the album’s concept and name ahead of today’s announcement. “The symbol for Chromatica has a sine wave in it, which is the mathematical symbol for sound, and it’s from what all sound is made from, and, for me, sound is what healed me in my life period, and it healed me again making this record, and that is really what Chromatica is all about,” she explained. “It’s about healing and it’s about bravery as well and it’s really like when we talk about love I think it’s so important to include the fact that it requires a ton of bravery to love someone.”

She went on to explain that the album name emerged from a discussion with BloodPop, who will be producing the album. Tying in with the name, the LP will be themed around inclusivity and showcase a technicolour world of tastes and styles. “We talked about how Chromatica was essentially on its own when you first look at it, it seems to be about colours and all the different colours and also music is made of a chromatic scale, you know?” She said. “So it’s all the colours, all the sounds, you know, so we, we’re talking about inclusivity and life and also a lot of what we see around us and what we’re experiencing is maths, which is very much like music and sound is maths as well.”

Suffice to say, Twitter is already ablaze with Gaga stans mobilising to get #Chromatica trending. Check out some of their best social media reactions below.
