Let Ashnikko be your Internet Guide

As Ashnikko herself declared, she's "making waves and craters now" and can't be restrained. But why on earth would you want to?

Making music more relevant and unique than 2018 was ready to see, the North Carolina born, Estonian and Latvian raised artist is breaking boundaries, smashing genres and making the music her mind conjures up. Whether it be 2016’s vehement anti-Trump track ‘Please Don’t Grab My Pussy’, or most recent feminist statement ‘Inivitation’ – in which the singer vocalises the daily misogyny and fear women suffer – Ashnikko channels her beliefs and makes them into powerfully potent creations.

Releasing her second EP, Unlikeable, last week, Ashnikko is not compromising, she’s not giving in and she’s not giving up. Tenacious as she is talented, her off-kilter trap is enticingly original, and if there was ever a presence the music industry needed, Ashnikko is well and truly it. So this week, enter the weird and wonderful world of the rising star, and let Ashnikko be your Internet Guide…

What would you like to see more of online? What about less of?

Tentacle porn. And tentacle porn.

What or who is the best account you follow?

@cool3dworld for the creepy crawly 3d bois @exoticcancer for the sex positive stripper illustrations @ericandre because I want him to have my babies.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve read about yourself online?

Probably some dumb shit my mom wrote about me on Facebook to all our relatives. Love it. Mom Facebooks are an iconic source of gossip.

What’s your favourite meme?

Big doinks. If you know, you know.

What’s your earliest memory of the Internet?

I HAD A FUCKING FASHION BLOG AT 13!!!! so so jokes. so cringe. I also vividly remember my MySpace page popping the fuck off. Paramore blasting, my name in pink glitter, and my Top 8 carefully (and ruthlessly) curated as soon as you landed on my page.

Is the Internet a good or bad thing for music?

Everyone has the attention span of a goldfish, but I think it’s good that fans can connect with their favourite artists on a more personal level. I can livestream myself eating a bowl of noodles so I’m down with the internet. INTERNET 4EVA <3

How many followers represent success?

Eww. (69?!)

Finally…what’s going on in your life?

I’m growing out my armpit hair for the winter. The last single “No Brainer” from my fucking EP “Unlikeable” just dropped with a sick ass music video of me vomiting on myself and rope-bondaging myself from the ceiling. I’m loving myself really good this year, which sounds simple, but has been hard for me to do. I’m in a very serious relationship with myself and I think it’s gonna work out.

Follow Ashnikko on Instagram here now and stream her latest video for ‘No Brainer’ below now.
