Meet Myla

Get to know the makeup artist, creative and model who has been bringing their artistic flair to our VERO account.

With over 100,000 of online followers and already featured in the likes of Allure, Myla (aka by their Instagram handle @pradaolic) is becoming a name to know in the beauty business. And with good reason, their bright, boundary-breaking approach to beauty is one-of-a-kind – a reflection of their unique creative vision.

Fresh off of their takeover over of our VERO account, Myla breaks down the most eye-catching look they’ve ever created, their number one beauty tip and the positive change they want to create through their creative practice.

Have you always been creative?

Creativity has always been part of my life to be honest. I used to draw a lot, and I got those skills from my mum. Pretty much everyone in my family is creative in one way or another.

When did you discover makeup?

I discovered makeup at the age of 12 or 13 but of course I didn’t start wearing makeup until my late teens as makeup on a child was a no, no in my household. Gradually I got the idea to combine my art skills and clash them together with makeup. When I was 18, almost turning 19, the artistry in me started shinning!

What’s the wildest look you’ve ever created?

Definitely when i turned myself into a green alien which was inspired by Isamaya Ffrench’s collaboration with BYREDO.

Talk us through the moodboad for your VERO takeover?

It was definitely me showcasing how versatile my art is by adding elements of drag as well as taking inspiration from FKA Twigs and Cho Gi Seok.

What do you want to communicate through your practice as a makeup creative?

I want everyone to know that anything is possible, nothing’s farfetched and all the dreams and goals you have are within reach. I especially want dark-skinned Black girls and non-binary people to know that no colour is ever too “bright” or too “bold” to try on.

When do you feel most beautiful?

When I’m creating and at peace with myself and my own company

If you could do anyone in the world’s makeup, who would it be?

There are so many artists who I would love to create for but SZA, Bree Runway and Rihanna are definitely at the top of my list.

What’s your top beauty tip?

For that natural dewy, glass-like look to the skin use lipgloss or face gloss, rub it onto the back of your hand to warm it up a little and then apply onto the upper cheek bone and nose.

Tell us the song that gets you in the MUA mood?

It honestly changes all the time but right now it’s “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat featuring SZA.

What’s your favourite place in London and why?

Richmond Park simply because I love being surrounded by nature and of course Camden for the thrift stores.

Finally, what’s next for you?

Big, big things from being on the cover of magazines to being on the runway as a plus-size model for huge fashion brands and creating and styling my favourite artists. Speaking all of these into existence as it’s already sealed and done!
