Megan Thee Stallion reveals teaser for upcoming ‘Traumazine’ album

The rapper is going full-on emo with her next project.

Late last month, rap sensation Megan Thee Stallion revealed she’d finished recording her upcoming album Traumazine. Now, the Houston native has given fans a taste of what they can expect from her sophomore album.

The star posted a clip to Instagram featuring an eerie piano-based backing track that shows Megan slowly approaching a casket while donning a black veil, surrounded by ominous onlookers. After she arrives, she places a single black rose on the coffin. The clip then cuts to Megan, now dressed in white, walking away from the service before she looks into the camera. The word Traumazine then appears on-screen. If this spooky sequence is anything to go by, we’re surely in for a classic.

Last week, Megan explained the definition of the project’s title as a “chemical released in the brain when it is forced to deal with painful emotions caused by traumatic events and experiences.”

The musician then posted a collection of images last night along with the caption: “It took a lot of self-reflecting to get to the point in my life where I am right now… I ain’t saying I finally figured everything out or that I’m finally at peace, bc I’m not… buttt I’m excited for the hotties to get a better understanding of what’s happening in my head #TRAUMAZINE.”

Following the clips release, the star jumped on Twitter to respond to fans and noted that the album will span 18 songs. “I wrote this album for myself,” she said. “I wanted to start writing in a journal but I said fuck it I’ll put it in a song.”

A release date for the album has not yet been confirmed, so it might come a little too late to soundtrack your hot girl summer, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be one of this year’s standout releases.
