NAO talks self discovery, break-ups and make-ups on new album, Saturn

Watch the star of the London music scene discuss her new album in Hunger TV's exclusive video.

Second album syndrome is a well known affliction among musicians but for London’s resident soulstress NAO that problem didn’t rear its head and she released sophomore album Saturn unscathed last month. “I think this album was actually easier”, she laughs, “I didn’t put so much pressure on myself and tried to make it as fun as possible.”

“The evolution of my first album to this album has dealt with my personal growth”, she says. “I explored my early twenties in my first album, and this second album describes the more tricky side to being in your twenties, and that’s why I called it Saturn because it’s based on this astrological idea of Saturn returns and Saturn is the planet of lessons and growth.”

When it came to inspiration NAO looked back on the intricacies of her last few years, and invited new collaborators and friends in to work on the album.”There are so many dimensions to love, relationships, break-ups and make-ups that there was so much to explore”, she says.
