Katy O’Brian, Dave Franco, Ed Harris and Jena Malone have joined Kristen Stewart and Anna Baryshnikov in Love Lies Bleeding with A24 and Film4 teaming on the pic.
The story is set in the ultra-competitive world of bodybuilding and will focus on “the extreme qualities it takes to succeed in the competitive world of bodybuilding”. Its central romance will be one “fuelled by ego, desire and the American dream”. Kristen will play one of the new A24 film’s two co-leads, who are love interests.
All we know about Stewart’s character in Love Lies Bleeding at this stage is that she won’t be playing a muscle woman herself; instead appearing as “the protective lover of a female bodybuilder”.
A24 will produce alongside Andrea Cornwell for Lobo Films and Oliver Kassman for Escape Plan Productions. Film4 developed the film alongside the filmmakers and will co-finance with A24, which will handle the global release of the film. Production starts this week.
Stewart was recently snubbed at the Oscars this year in which she was nominated for best actress in Spencer. Hopefully, Love Lies Bleeding will give her the chance to get her hands on the iconic award.
