Pete Davidson stars in new A24 slasher movie ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies’

The plot revolves around ultra-privileged 20-somethings and a party that goes horribly awry...

A24 has set the standards for horror movies over the past few years with stills from films like Hereditary and Midsommar still lingering around in our nightmares. Now, the studio is giving us their latest potential masterpiece with Bodies Bodies Bodies. Categorised as a horror comedy it seems as though A24 will be taking a more light-hearted approach instead of trauma-inducing full-blown horror.

Directed by Halina Reijn, in what will be her second director role, the film will star Pete Davidson, Rachel Sennott, Amanda Stenberg and Maria Bakalova. Sarah DeLappe wrote the screenplay, based on a story by Kristen Roupenian, who wrote the 2017 viral The New Yorker short story, Cat Person.

The premise sees a group of ultra-privileged 20-somethings whose party-fuelled getaway in a remote family mansion goes horribly wrong. A hurricane hits and knocks out all the power in the mansion while the group are playing a murder in the dark game called ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies’. Of course, that wouldn’t make for the most exciting film so a murderous psychopath has also been thrown in for good measure.

The film has already received rave reviews from critics and currently sits at a 96% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes making it one of the highest-rated A24 films of all time on the site.

Charli XCX has also produced a new original song for the film titled ‘hot girls’, and given just the name we’re sure it’ll be providing the soundtrack to the rest of our summer.

Bodies Bodies Bodies will be released on August 5th in selected theatres in the US before a wider release on 12th August. A UK release has been confirmed for 2nd September.
