Prada saves Christmas

Shot by Steven Meisel and based on a short story by best-selling author Candice Carty-Williams, the Italian house's Christmas campaign is achingly chic.

Prada is giving John Lewis a run for their money. Admittedly, that’s a sentence we never thought we’d write, but it’s true. Earlier this week, the Italian fashion giant dropped a holiday campaign that singlehandedly outshines all of the British retailer’s – known for its blockbuster Christmas ads – most brilliant festive moments.

Photographed by living legend Steven Meisel and based on an original short story by Queenie author Candice Carty-Williams, the campaign unfolds like the kind of movie you’d find on Mubi: with different angles, views and cuts around the enigmatic protagonists of a developing narrative. Oh, and with faces like Freja Beha starring alongside some of Prada’s best-loved items, its cast of models and accessories alike is a visual treat.
