Rankin Photo Challenge: Disconnect / Week 3

Bored? It's Week 3 of Rankin's Photo Challenge.

Boredom is the key to creativity. What we want you to do is to disconnect. To look around you. To question your relationship to your social media accounts and your screen. To use them in a genuine, meaningful way. And only if you want to.

If you want to use Instagram, you can tag us @hungermagazine or @rankinarchive. And if you don’t, you can email submissions@hungertv.com.

Week 3 Challenge

For this week’s challenge, I’d like us all to take advantage of this extra time we have and get to know each other a bit better.

My challenge is to take a portrait of somebody that is close to you, whether a family member or a friend. Show me something about them that tells their story, or something about their personality. For those of you living alone the challenge can be created over FaceTime or any other app that allows you to do video chat.

My recommendation for the best entries would be to ask them a set of questions first – to really get under their skin. Try and find out something about them that you didn’t know before and then photograph that! Let’s use this opportunity as a way of chronicling this very strange time in our history – a portrait of the world in the midst of a pandemic.
