Räthel & Wolf celebrate the fluidity of human form in exclusive short film

To introduce the brand’s latest collection, immerse yourself in SINN.

Sinn is the inspiration of London-based jewellery label’s latest collection, but not in the way you might expect. The German word for sense, the SS19 SINN collection focuses on transcendence and immersion, for Räthel & Wolf jewellery should be in harmony with the natural body. From the “high quality sterling silver pieces that require no piercings” to the form fitting necklaces, the collection is designed to coexist with the body, to be an extension of the natural self.

Addressing the idea of the post-human, the German duo Sari Räthel and Ricarda Wolf found themselves provoked to redefine the body, exposing that this occurred “through emerging and speculative technologies such as prostheses, regeneration, radical life extension, mind uploading and cryonics”. Challenging the concept of human, their experimental use of metal and its varying weight: discovering “reconfiguration of the body influenced by biotechnological methods of adaption and enhancement, scientific enquiry and artistic experimentation.”

Exploring this versatility and fluidity, Räthel & Wolf collaborated a series of artists and creatives to interpret their designs. Blurring the boundary between the body and adornment, the work of each of the contributing artists stimulates ideas relating to the body and senses. Below is an exclusive preview of the short film made with director Emilie Alstrup, a sensual exploration of the human form and its interaction with jewellery.
