It’s hard to imagine our lives without reality tv: from classics like Keeping up with the Kardashians to Love & Hip Hop to whatever “brand new reality show like no other” is getting churned out next. Even Snapchat dabbles in the world of reality tv, with 12 original short-formed shows to attract audiences to the slowly dying app. It’s easy to forget there was a time when reality tv was uncharted territory but we’re here to remind you. We want to take you back to a time, fourteen years ago, when 5 upper-middle-class white women from Orange County Florida introduced themselves to our screens.
Since then, the Real Housewives franchise has been entertaining us for nearly 15 years and spawned over 19 different spin-offs worldwide. And in those years, Real Housewives have given us memeable content aplenty, from ‘Woman yelling at cat’ on Real Housewives of Beverley Hills to the historic Real Housewives of Orange County vine, “THAT’S MY OPINION!”. Real Housewives has garnered a massive cult following since its debut and created a generation who can’t go one day without telling their partner “have a piece of bread and maybe you’ll calm down” during an argument.

Real Housewives of Orange County: Season 9 Reunion
At the end of every season, the women have a reunion and host Andy Cohen reflects on what’s happened in that season of the show. It’s basically an opportunity to re-hash old wounds and confront each other. In Real Housewives of Orange County’s reunion in season 9, Vicki accused Tamra of bitching about her ex-boyfriend (who we all now know lied about having cancer) to which Tamra replies, screaming; “THAT’S MY OPINION!”. Iconic.
Real Housewives of New Jersey: Season 1 Finale
It was naive of the producers of the show to ever think that a sit-down meal would go smoothly in the housewives world. In the finale of Real Housewives of New Jersey season 1, Danielle and Teresa got into a heated argument, with things quickly escalating and ending with Teresa having to be restrained by security after trying to flip a table.
Real Housewives of New York: Season 2 Episode 6
A bonafide Real Housewives star, everyone knows Ramona Singer. Starring in the sixth season of Real Housewives of New York, she quickly won over audiences with her eccentric personality and unabashed obsession with Pinot Grigio and botox. Taking some time off from ‘turtle time’ she debuted her ‘crazy eyes’ at New York Fashion Week, much to the bemusement of catwalk invitees.
Real Housewives of Orange County: Season 12 Episode 16
Whilst on a group trip to Iceland after hiking on a glacier, real housewife Vicki started to feel unwell and quickly came to the conclusion she must be having a heart attack. This is pretty scary for everyone involved, but Vicki inadvertently lightens the mood (especially for everyone watching at home) by throwing a robe over her head as paramedics take her to a waiting ambulance.
