‘Renaissance’: The craziest internet reactions to Beyoncé’s first album in six years

The BeyHive has taken over Twitter once again...

Today, Queen Bey released her hotly anticipated Renaissance album and it’s safe to say it sent the internet into a frenzy.

In what is her first solo album in six years, the 16-track effort features industry heavyweights Drake, Skrillex and Grace Jones. Surprisingly, Beyoncé announced that Renaissance would be the first in a trilogy of albums. Although those expecting another art pop extravaganza may have been disappointed, Beyonce took yet another musical detour, this time implementing elements of Afrobeats, Jersey Club (much like Drake’s recent project) and New Jack Swing.

In a statement uploaded to her website the day before the album’s release, Beyoncé said: “This three-act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic,” the 28-time Grammy-winning artist wrote. “My intention was to create a safe place. A place without judgement. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom.”

Of course, the internet had plenty to say about the star’s latest release. Media personality Scottie Beam couldn’t keep her composure as she live-tweeted the album. “BEYONCE DEADASS TOOK MY HAND AND IS DRAGGING ME TO EVERY CLUB” Beam tweeted following up with a slew of hilarious reactions including “I’m sweating” and “transitions melt in your mouth.”

“If this is what Beyoncé was doing in the house the whole quarantine, LOCK US BACK UP!!!!!!” Said one user who clearly adored the album. “haven’t stopped gagging since I clicked play on this album, not a single break… BEYONCÉ PLEASE,” added another.
