RuPaul’s Drag Race UK: everything you need to know

Gentlemen, start your engines…

Last December, news broke that the iconic RuPaul’s Drag Race show was finally coming to the UK. Now, a recent announcement has revealed that Chewing Gum creator, Michaela Coel, is the latest addition to the show’s panel of guest judges.

Other celebrity judges include Game of Thrones’ star Maisie Williams, Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall, Oscar-nominated actor Andrew Garfield and Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. RuPaul is, of course, heavily involved and so is Michelle Visage – how could she not be?

Following the announcement, Maisie said: “What I love the most about drag is the story of the drag queen behind the façade. I think that so much of drag comes from a place of real pain and seeing how that transforms into a character is so interesting to me. I love that about art and about drag.”

Graham Norton and Alan Carr will also be part of the show (duh!) as the two rotating resident judges. Carr commented: “To be sat next to Michelle Visage and Mama Ru as a guest judge on possibly one of my all-time favourite shows ever is a dream come true. I can’t wait to see what the UK queens have in store – it’s going to be sickening.”

A start date for the show has unfortunately not been confirmed yet, however, we can definitely expect it to drop later this year on BBC Three. Official contestants haven’t been announced either, so here’s a list of the internet’s most rumoured queens so far:
