Sir Anthony Hopkins is Loewe’s latest supermodel

Hannibal Lecter has some serious fashion chops.

Many of us may recognise Sir Anthony Hopkins for his chilling portrayal of serial killer Hannibal Lecter in the 1991 classic The Silence of the Lambs, however it seems that the Oscar winner is now keen to show his playful side. For this latest campaign Loewe has tapped famed photographer Juergen Teller, with styling by Benjamin Bruno, to capture Hopkins and others’ most animated moments.

He was one of many famous faces to show off Loewe’s pre-fall 2022 collection, including model Kia Gerber, actor Josh O’Connor, K-Pop star Hyun Ah and more. In this lookbook, a range of ready to wear Loewe pieces were brought to life through a selection of natural and editorial-styled photographs. “The raw playfulness of the portraits highlights the spirit of each character, which in turn brings to life the energetic ethos of the Loewe pre fall collection…,” the house stated in a press release on the campaign.

In one of the looks, the actor wore a luxurious embroidered black sweatshirt and classic black trousers as he posed in the garden of an LA mansion. Hopkins revealed one this look via Instagram, “For some fun, today’s gig is modelling.” Hopkins is the latest welcome addition to the current trend of older actors appearing in big name designers shows and campaigns. This year both Jeff Goldblum and Kyle Machlachlan walked in Prada’s AW22 show and Keeanu Reeves was the standout star of Saint Laurent’s AW19 campaign.

Hopkins has found success later in life plying his trade in the modelling industry, previously modelling for Loro Piana and Brioni. Besides Hopkins, there was one other senior star to feature in the campaign, 80-year old artist Lynda Benglis. The American artist is mostly known for her wax paintings and poured latex sculptures but effortlessly pulls off parrot faced leggings with ease.
