Following on from his 2016 decadent trip to Thorpe Park with 200-odd competition winners, this year his plan was just as – if not more – ridiculous. Taking about 100 fans along with 100 friends, Stormzy and Spotify hired a villa in Menorca and had a massive pool party. Chartering a plane, he took the gang on Merky Airways, emblazoning every merch item in sight in the new signature logo.

Teaming up with Spotify Premium, Stormzy’s trip was bigger and better than before, with a major new crew. From fellow MCs Avelino and AJ Tracey to HUNGER fave Ms Banks, to comedian/rapper Michael Dapaah, aka Big Shaq, and of course hs girlfriend Maya Jama. Joining the close knit pals was Stormzy’s die-hard fans, proven to be so by Spotify’s data, as the lucky selection were the rapper’s top streamers.

Performing mini sets, giving playful and heartfelt speeches, sharing a villa shaped bday cake, the whole day was a fun celebration of Stormzy the music icon and the man. So as his good friend rapper Ramz put it “today’s my family truth…Stormzy’s a real brother of mine, and it’s such an honour to be invited”, when I asked him what music meant to him in three words, he exclaimed that it was just what the day itself was: “A real good vibe”.
