Sound Spotlight: Dreamgazing // Femme

Women of dream pop and shoegaze take hold of this weeks Sound Spotlight.

Dream pop and shoe gaze is the atmospheric sub-genre of alternative rock. Its often characterised by breathy vocals, densely produced sound, and poetic lyrics which ethereally paint a visual landscape through sound.

Shoegaze and dream pop came to fruition in the 1980’s, with technology like guitar pedals and beat machines becoming more readily available to a mass audience. It became possible for small bands to create bigger sounds than ever, by using this technology to create sonic texture through walls of sound, and reverb to last an eternity.

And like any genre through the decades, shoegaze and dream pop has had incredible women, pioneer in this type of music.

Drift away, let the music take you…
