Having previously walked for Hood by Air, Tama Gucci (IRL name Kymani Floyd) has been on fashion fans’ radars for a while. Last year he tapped a whole new audience with a version of Blueface’s Thotiana, jumping on the bandwagon after the likes of Nicki Minaj, Cardi B and Young M.A. all gave the track a remix. Then relatively unknown, his Twitter rendition racked up over 36,000 likes and led him to post a full-length version on Soundcloud due to popular demand. Since then, he’s worked with LSDXOXO, covered T.A.T.U. and been booked to party with Caroline Polachek.

We caught up with the multi-talented musician for a DM convo about MySpace and being a Nicki Minaj stan.

@hungermagazine: What’s your earliest Internet memory?

@tamahoochie: My earliest internet memory is MySpace and editing my status. I miss those days wow

@hungermagazine: Us too! What’re your five most-used emojis?

@tamahoochie:💀 – that one means dead lol I really be cackling up about a lot of stuff
@tamahoochie: 🥰 – I’ve been feeling very loved 🙂
@tamahoochie:🥺 – I use this one so much because everyone always tell me I have sad eyes lol
@tamahoochie:😘✌🏿- technically this is 5 emojis but this one comes in a pair haha I always use this one when I’m trying to be shady like “ aww ur mad kisses and bye” haha !
@tamahoochie:😤 – I use this one a lot when I’m complimenting my friends it looks angry but it’s really just an emphasis on “ she did that” or “he did that” haha

@tamahoochie: Brandy, Kelela, Chief Keef

@hungermagazine: Do you use dating apps?

@tamahoochie: I’m not on the market but I never used dating apps when I was! Those are so weird everyone is portraying their best self on those apps a lot of it is not real

@hungermagazine: Have you ever been blocked?

@tamahoochie: Yes plenty of times!

@hungermagazine: Last person you stalked on IG?

@tamahoochie: Definitely Nicki Minaj that’s the queen !

@hungermagazine: What’s your most-used app? Why?

@tamahoochie: My most used app is Twitter for sure it’s so funny plus I like to read random things in between my day! It sparks a lot of interesting conversations in my mind

@hungermagazine: What’s the longest amount of time you can go without being on your phone?

@tamahoochie: Like 42 hours lol then I need to check my IG DMs annoyingly enough I can blame my screen time on business haha
