That’s so Lana Del Rey vinyl: ‘…Ocean Blvd’ is the best selling vinyl of the year so far

Del Rey’s ninth studio album has hit the number-one spot for the best-selling vinyl album.

Lana Del Rey’s Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd has become the best-selling vinyl album of the year so far. With a hardcore fan base waiting in anticipation for the new release, last month saw the girlies singing choruses of “Pass me my vape, I’m feeling sick” as the ninth studio album debuted at number one on the Official Albums chart.

It’s no surprise really, I mean Del Rey fans literally coined the term “this is so Lana Del Rey vinyl” on TikTok to satirically describe the whole vibe of listening to a sad girl tune on your record player and smoking a cigarette. There is no other way to listen to Del Rey other than vinyl – surely? Thanks to this, the album has also been certified as the best-selling album on wax for 2023, pipping the likes of Taylor Swift and Paramore at the post.

We may also be back in our Tumblr era, as this marks the strongest week for the pop icon in the charts since 2014, when it was her third studio album Ultraviolence that hit some historic heights. According to a report by the Official Vinyl Albums Chart Top 40, it was less than a month after its release that …Ocean Blvd sold a whopping 20,800 copies in the format.

It’s been quite the girl power parade for number one albums making the list of best-selling vinyl LPs in 2023, as Taylor Swift’s Midnights, Paramore’s This Is Why and Miley Cyrus Endless Summer Vacation join the top 10.

Del Rey is also joined by the likes of Gorillaz Cracker Island, the re-release of the Courteeners 2008 St. Jude, and Inhaler’s Cuts & Bruises
