The artists exploring the power of the blank canvas

If there's one recognisable symbol across all mediums of art, it's the blank canvas: whether that's a literal one, or a blank photoshop screen, or a blank mind, it's where idea conception becomes creation.

From signwriter and glass gilder Alex May Hughes’ innovative gold-leaf Simpsons, to Rob Lowe AKA Supermundane and his graphic prints, the artists are able to use any blank space to express their artistry.

Diversely varied in their styles and talents, the eclectic three artists are a part of a wider group who wish to transform a blank canvas into a living work of art for people to watch emerge. Working in collaboration with Bombay Sapphire on CANVAS, where the artists will bring their different creative approaches together for the first time to create a visually captivating interactive space. Over four days, the artists will use the floors, walls and furniture of the N&C Showrooms in Shoreditch as their canvases, constantly evolving their work. Set to be a vital artistic event, it will run from 18th July until the 21st at N&C Showrooms, Shoreditch High Street, and proceeds even go to the Developing Artists charity, who support the arts in post-conflict nations and deprived communities. So get to know three of the fifteen incredible artists below, and get tickets for the event yourself here.
