The designer making clothes for an empowered cyber goddess

Get to know Nicola Bacchilega.

Born in Faenza, Italy – a town that boots one of the richest heritage in ceramics dating back to ancient Roman times – Nicola Bacchilega has always been fascinated with art history and ornaments.

“The brand has born developing my sculptural background,” Bacchilega tells HUNGER. “I studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Turin and since then I always focused on the approach of materials to the body developing anatomy forms.

The 28-year-old designer describes his clothing as ancestral, cyber and empowering: “my clothing is more performative,” he says. “I’m obsessed with Maria Forque, a performance artist, her work conceptualises the objectification of women bodies. Her former account had been deleted by IG with no reason but supposedly her art, now her letter account @imvirgenmaria has been deleted again. I believe in the art of nudity and her work is so inspiring; #freemariaforque1 #freeimvirgenmaria, I hope I’ll have the pleasure to collaborate on something soon.

Meeting forever fashion muse and lifelong provocateur Grace Jones last year was “a dream come true,”Bacchilega says. “She has such an avant-garde vision; she’s provocative and fearless.” Much like Nicola Bacchilega’s modern-day goddess.
