The Fashion Awards 2018 to spotlight the new wave of creatives

Feat. 100 of the world's most innovative and inspiring young tastemakers.

At a recent Sarabande Foundation talk, British photographer Tim Walker touched on the dramatically changing, fast-moving fashion landscape. When he was starting out in the early 90s, pre-Instagram, the industry was less open and democratic as it now. In 2k18, we are living in an age of discovery. The rise and rise of social media means conversations, images, features (and scandals) spread like wildfire. The rising photographer to discover? Trans model and activist breaking the mould? Underground labels-to-love? New media has in many ways diversified the fashion world for the better.

In the spirit of next-gen buzz, this year marks the first time The Fashion Awards 2018 in partnership with Swarovski celebrate the young global creative community by recognising 100 of the most innovative and inspiring young creative talent from around the world via NEW WAVE: Creatives.

Joining the incubator of talent are HUNGER faves, models Maxim Magnus and Finn Buchanan and filmmaker Fenn O’Meally; Gal-Dem founder Liv Little; choreographer Jordan Robson; make-up artist Lucy Bridge; interior designer Luke Edward Hall photographers Jin Jiaji, Leslie Zhang Jia Cheng, Liang Hengyi and more.

The shortlist highlights London’s position as an international hub and pays homage to the incredible success of both home-grown and international talent, while celebrating all those who play a vital role in the industry’s cultural and creative reputation.
