The Queen of Pop returns – Madonna releases collaboration tracks with The Weeknd and Playboi Carti

The star is back in full force, announcing new collaborations with The Weeknd and Playboi Carti, as well as a tune with Sam Smith.

Fans are mega excited at the news that Madonna – aged 64 – is back in the limelight, and partnering up with some of music’s hottest names. The new single ‘Popular’, which was released by The Weeknd featuring the singer and Playboi Carti, is set to appear on the highly-anticipated HBO series The Idol – which will see The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) and Lily Rose-Depp take lead roles.

The track will be featured on the soundtrack album called ‘The Idol Vol 1’, which will be fully released at the end of the month on the 30th of June. Whilst this first song has only been released today on the 2nd of June, it has caught the attention of pop culture fans everywhere, revelling in the ‘Vogue’ singer’s “crisp” voice with many exclaiming “SHE’S OFFICIALLY BACK!” following the news. One Twitter fan shared how they had “JUST LISTENED TO POPULAR AND MADONNA SOUNDS SOO GOOD THE QUEEN OF POP IS HERE! [sic]”

Earlier this week, we were teased with a snippet of the song played at the Cannes Film Festival, which began to circulate online as Tesfaye uploaded a screenshot to his Instagram with himself and Playboi Carti. The news that Madonna had joined them quickly prompted her listeners to understand that she was making her return, as they share on Twitter how “glad” they are that “her verse is actually longer.” But this isn’t the only news the songstress has released this week, with fans commenting that there was “so much new content as soon as I woke up!”

Madonna had also announced yesterday that she would be working with Sam Smith on a song called ‘Vulgar’, with the respective artists sharing the news on their social media. The image showed the icon on a split screen in two different corsets – one black and one white – which boded an ‘S’ and ‘M’ letter on each to signify the new partnership. The clever play with both artist’s first initials has prompted fans to believe this tune and its imagery will showcase all things sex – a Madonna signature if you will.

“‘Vulgar’ by Sam Smith and Madonna is going to piss off all the right people,” said one Twitter user, referring to the slew of hate Sam Smith has recently received following their tour. So, yep, the 64-year-old artist is proving that she has still got it, and we are excited to see the full projects, and maybe even some more tunes in the near future.
