Tyrell Hampton Channels Free-Wheeling Joy for Coach

The photographer has captured roller skaters Keon Saghari, Ashley Imani, and Sebeey Chi in the fashion house's latest campaign featuring capsule collection of reimagined American sportswear.

If you’re a photography fan, there’s little doubt you will have seen Tyrell Hampton’s signature fashion imagery. With direct-flash and plenty of spontaneous, spur-of-the-moment energy, his prolific work is a much-needed antidote to the fashion world’s “you can’t sit with us” attitude.

With his unguarded shots of fashion and entertainment royalty like Barbie Ferreira, Mona Tougaard and the Dua Lipa — as a fly on the wall at parties or hard-at-work on set, Hampton has defined himself as a singular photographer for his inclusive style which seems to invite the viewer into the most coveted corners of creative society while barely batting an eyelid.

On Instagram and TikTok, his multifaceted practice, magnetic personality and habit for pulling out unexpected celebrity cameos have established a core following of photography and fashion fans. IRL, his skills behind the camera have landed him some of the most coveted gigs in the business: lensing Zendaya for the cover of GQ and editorial work with L’Officiel Paris and Office Magazine.

Now, in a milestone for the young photographer, Hampton has shot Coach’s latest campaign: a free-wheeling capsule collection of reimagined American sportswear as part of the fashion house’s Pre Fall collection.

With both accessories and active wear, the offering draws on Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers’ free-spirited vision for the house and playfully combines the house’s heritage in craft with the codes of American sportswear. It includes athletic tees, sweatshirts, leggings, nylon windbreakers and shorts printed with the house’s Signature pattern, reimagined as sporty retro graphics, and spotlights the house’s “Quilties,” a collection of archival-inspired bags crafted in soft Nappa leather and Signature chambray.

The campaign embraces the rocketing popularity of roller skating and stars roller skaters Keon Saghari, Ashley Imani, and Sebeey Chi, creating a narrative of summer adventures with friends which is brought to life through moving image and this authentic roller skating cast. With a combined social media following of over 300,000, the skaters are known for their uplifting and inclusive content, perfectly mirroring both the ethos of Coach and of Hampton’s photographic work.

Taking place in Moonlight Rollerway Skating Centre, a roller rink that initially opened in 1956, the campaign taps into the power of rollerskating to uplift and empower while gesturing towards the history of creativity and resilience innate within the sport, which combines athleticism, innovation and freedom of expression.
