‘Virgin Suicides’ fans rejoice: you can now wear your favourite Sofia Coppola film courtesy of Uniqlo

Japanese retailer Uniqlo has teamed up with cult film director Sofia Coppola for a line inspired by her greatest films, including The Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette.

In light of International Women’s Day, everyone’s favourite cult film director Sofia Coppola is proving the latest muse for the basics brand Uniqlo. The Oscar-winning director debuted nearly 25 years ago with The Virgin Suicides in 1999, and to celebrate, the Japanese retailer has created a capsule collection of five pieces compromised of tees and tote bags as a tribute to her creative vision.

Available in XXS to XXL, the designs feature some of the most iconic scenes from her cult classics, including Marie Antoinette (2006) lounging with the line “It’s not too much is it?” written around her. In another design, the famed quote from The Bling Ring (2013) of “Let’s go shopping” is plastered across the plain white tee in forest green lettering. For fans of Somewhere (2010), the tee is printed with “Sorry, what was the question?”, as an iconic still of the five sisters from The Virgin Suicide is used for another.

As the director celebrates her 25 years of success, this venture into fashion is in fact no new feat for her. Coppola launched her own fashion line, MilkFed, in the ‘90s after interning under Karl Lagerfeld as a teen. She has previously teamed up with luxury brand Louis Vuitton on a handbag collection, as well as Marc Jacobs as he took inspiration from The Virgin Suicides in his diffusion line, Heaven.
