A cinematic re-imaging of the seminal album.

To mark the 40th anniversary of Joy Division’s ‘Unknown Pleasures’, a series of films celebrating the ground-breaking album are to be released – watch the first of the series here.

Releasing the legendary debut album in June 1979, Joy Division quickly became one of the most influential bands in music history. The band’s visual coordinator, Warren Jackson, has commissioned a new film for each track in the album, such as ‘Disorder’ and ‘She’s Lost Control’.

The videos will be published over the course of 2019, beginning with I Remember Nothing, released yesterday on June 13. All of the films will be worked on by established artists and directors as well as new filmmakers, the soundtrack will be the original Joy Division recordings.

I Remember Nothing stars acclaimed HBO’s Chernobyl actor Baltasar Breki Samper and directed by Helgi and Hörður, who have both worked with Yoko Ono.

To also celebrate ‘Unknown Pleasures’ anniversary, there will be a special re-release of the band’s debut album.
