We’re bugging out over this cockroach nail trend courtesy of EmRata

The cockroach is taking centre stage with this new creepy-crawly-inspired nail artistry.

Emily Ratajkowski may be known for her romantic relationships (namely Harry Styles most recently), but the model and podcast host has stepped out sporting some serious nail inspo – and it’s high time we all take note.

In a photo dump post on Insta, EmRata gave fans a close-up of these nails, one of which was moulded into the shape of a cockroach. Yep, cockroach claws are the new thing. The oval-bodied, long antenna, brown leathery creepy crawly is usually found hiding in the shadows, but thanks to the Met Gala steps debut, the bug is fashion’s newest ‘it’ girl. The roach gets a bad rep, but finally, we have found a star willing to give it a platform.

The background nail was flushed with a simple ivory colour to set the roach in all its glory, which was eerily similar to the real thing – hairy legs and long antennae included. Reactions on the Insta post showed a slew of roach nail fans: ‘NEED the bug set’ says one, ‘Trash fashion – trashion?’ says another.

We have long seen butterflies and the likes of ‘pretty’ bugs grace our manicures, so is it time to give the roach a go? What’s next: ants, mosquitoes, spiders, centipedes? We fear EmRata may have just started a bug nail revolution, and we are here for it.
