Yang Li explores Real vs. Fake Intimacy for SS19

Yang Li’s spring / summer ’19 collection explores who we are vs. what we reveal to the world. Translating this dialogue with oneself in the hyper-digital generation with now live in, garments offered up a dual purpose. Loud acid green accents, clumpy creeper shoes, visible but inaccessible zips and pockets: the Bejing-born designer channels the modern female experience and desire to be seen and unseen. Embroidery of names of women photographed by Magnum photographer Antoine d’Agata were seen printed on various garments. As the designer writes notes there’s a “melancholic optimism” at play, blending a romantic minimalism with a soft punk sensibility. Check out our favourite looks in the gallery below.
