A major Maison Margiela retrospective opens in Paris this weekend

Major.

[M]aison Margiela’s show are undeniably a highlight of Paris Fashion Week. This season, for instance, was a sci-fi spectacular; a holographic haze of metallic sneakers and technicolour dreamcoats (oh, and Pat McGrath’s ultraviolet lips were next level). A new exhibition, Margiela/Galliera 1989-2009 offers an unprecedented look at one of the most influential – and elusive – contemporary fashion designers Martin Margiela who pushed the scale of a garment to the extremes (quite literally: see his “Oversize Collection”).

This is the first retrospective in Paris devoted to the avant-garde visionary; tracing the career of the Belgian fashion designer from spring-summer 1989 to spring-summer 2009, which includes signature archive pieces, special installations and rare interviews. The exhibition is open from March 3rd 2018 – until July 15th 2018, for more information head to palaisgalliera.paris.fr. A must-see this spring ’18.
