Alexander McQueen menswear presents dandy punk for AW17

Via London and Paris, Alexander McQueen is channeling Oscar Wilde.

[V]ia London and Paris, Alexander McQueen Menswear is channeling Oscar Wilde for AW17. Sleek tailoring and classic British fabrics – jackets and coats in wool serge with velvet appliqués, a three-piece flannel suit and exaggerated overcoats lined with shearling for the British winer – nods to classic London gentlemanliness before the Parisian influences bring more fanciful tones to the collection.

An all-over paisley print robe, a full-length ceremonial cape embroidered with a grand pair of golden peacocks and a jacquard overcoat inspired by antique rugs all expose the Alexander McQueen man’s more expansive side. Offset with classic safety-pin earrings and padlock chokers and a cast of abrasive, rock and roll models, the collection pays homage to Wilde’s disruptive and iconoclastic vision  too.
