‘Aufheben’: N°21 present Prefall collection in mesmerising short film
Freudian-inspired fashion.
[F]ilm and fashion love to walk hand in hand, so what better way to present an artistic new collection than with a creative short film. For the upcoming release of N°21’s Prefall 2017/18 collection the brand created a video project, Aufheben. Written by mattandsarah (creative duo Matteo Strocchia and Sarah Venturini), and directed by Nicola Leone, the short film was shot in collaboration with the Museum of Natural History, ‘La Specola’, in Florence. Filmed here, in rooms which are usually closed to the public, the group created a mesmerising backdrop for the theatrically elegant collection from N°21.

The film also features an original soundtrack from Gea Brown, a sound designer well known in the art scene, who creates a mesmerising atmosphere throughout the scenes. N°21 describe how the film “deals with a young girl’s journey throughout her psychosis, whose story is inspired by a personal reinterpretation of two clinical cases by Sigmund Freud”, mattandsarah’s story brings this case study to life in a stylishly eerie way. As N°21 conclude “her idiosyncrasy keeps growing to the point that, in front of the Museum’s display cases, a vivid primordial instinct overcomes her intellect”.
