[S]pring Summer 2019 was all about the body for Charles Jeffrey: “new bodies, changing bodies, accepted and unaccepted bodies”. Exploring our perception of gender and the associated body, the collection took place in a utopia; away from stereotypes and expectations, where shapes were free to be whatever they wanted and where people were too. Exploring the versatility of textures and tailoring, the pieces emphasised the diversity of the body and presented perfection as alien and obscure.
Inspired by the blurred lines of digital 2D age and reality, Charles Jeffrey explores what the day-to-day of filters, contours and corsetry does to our perception. Embracing the insecurities of the mirror, the show questions what compels and repels us, meeting at somewhere in the middle.
