[C]hløë Black is every inch a Hollywood starlet: wistful stare, sharp eyeliner wings and bleach soaked waves, but she is no damsel. Dropping her EP ’27 Club’ back in 2015, Chløë teased her signature sound swimming between nostalgic grunge and retro pop. Back with ‘Waterbed’, Chløë is ready to delve into the next chapter. Having worked with bombshell photographer – and HUNGER regular – Nadia Lee Cohen on her Lynch-inspired visuals for ‘Wild at Heart’, Chløë has taken directing into her own hands for ‘Waterbed’s video.
Cinematic and enchanting as ever, Chløë Black has innovated her look: with the help of Nicholas Winding Refn-worthy neon jump cuts and Paris, Texas-esque gradients, the video oozes melodrama from every corner. Soulful lilts give Lana Del Rey a run for her money whilst her jazz-influenced sounds keeps Chløë unique as ever. Skating the line of then and now, Chløë Black will be 2018’s one to watch. Stay tuned. For now, check out the HUNGER premiere for the ‘Waterbed’ video below.
