[A] space age catwalk with glittering floor lit up the laid back tones of Coach’s spring summer 2018 show. Inspired by a diversity of influences from bikers to Americana varsity and Lou Reed to, apparently, William S. Burroughs – hopefully from his poetic writing rather than his love of benzedrine. All-in-all, the main inspiration was the works of Keith Haring, and the collection served as an ultimate homage to the artist.
Many pieces were boldly adorned with his iconic sketches, like the red woolen jumper with his notorious dancing figure emblazoned across a zig zag design, to a toned-down maxi skirt where his sketches become apparent the closer you look at the details. Even Haring’s own photographed likeness was plastered on white tees. In the show notes, a quote from the artist read: “Art is for everybody”.
