[C]oming soon to 180 The Strand, London is a unique opportunity to see the intricacies behind Wes Anderson’s soon-to-be hit new movie, Isle of Dogs. Collaborating with The Store X, you will be able to sneak a peek at the real-life sets used to film the captivating creation. The hand-crafted fictional city of Megasaki has arrived in London along with the puppet of Mayor Kobayashi – the dog-hating tyrant in charge of the poor puppy exile.
Taking over the ground floor of The Store X at 180 The Strand will be 17 original sets and an exclusive Ramen bar where you can get your hands on some Japanese noodles and a Sake cocktail or two. Some of the most meticulously crafted pieces in movie history, there’s sky scrapers and wood-panelled bars, festering rubbish and cherry blossom trees. As cinematographer Tristan Oliver explained, “everything you see has been made – there was no option to pop to a prop store…Even the lanterns have been hand-carved and painted in resin”.
The exhibition runs at The Store X 180 The Strand in collaboration with Fox Searchlight from 23rd March until 5th April 2018: 11am – 7pm, Saturday to Wednesday; 11am – 10pm, Thursday and Friday (late night opening).
