[F]rench photographer Jean-Marie Périer is showing his first London exhibition in London at the end of the summer. Aptly titled ‘DESIGNERS’, the collection will feature portraits of some of the world’s most iconic fashion designers including Yves Saint-Laurent, Valentino, Karl Lagerfeld, Naomi Campbell, Sonia Rykiel, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood, Galliano and Stella McCartney.
During the 1960s, Périer was the official photographer for French youth culture magazine Les Copains (later changed to Salut!) where he shot The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and James Brown before moving to the US to experiment with more commercial projects. By the 90s, feeling disillusioned with corporate advertising, Périer returned to fashion photography when ELLE magazine gave him full creative license to produce a series of images, to be called ‘The World Of Fashion Designers” which now makes up his first London exhibition.
Take a look at some of portraits below and check out our best and most salacious quotes from Karl and Valentino too.
