[D]ropping today is the latest track from Elle Watson: a mesmerisingly introspective piece of music, ‘Suspended’ is a captivating example of her singer-songwriter skills. At just 20 years old Elle has found an awareness in her sound which is both detailed and effortless. Drawn to darker ideas and off-kilter topics, she explains she finds “a sense of imbalance so inspiring”. Creating jarringly dreamy tracks, ‘Suspended’ is setting the tone for the year to come.
Written back when Elle Watson was just 17, the song follows her journey of “desperation of finding strength in the unknown”. Working with A$AP Rocky and Vince Staples’ producers, Watson has moved towards new hypnotising sounds with Parisian IDM artist Jackson & The Computer Band. Creating the song echoes her belief in finding “contradictions that you have in yourself”, when she writes she seeks “a bit of dissonance that I find really pretty. Then I go from there”.
Gearing up to play her next headline show at the Camden Assembly next week, Elle Watson has got a booming year ahead, so stay tuned and for now check out ‘Suspended’ below.
