[T]hought backpacks were basic? Think again. The coolest (and most unexpected) collaboration has just landed: illustrious makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench has teamed up with Hunter to create a limited-edition collection of Hunter Original backpacks.
Each style is individually customized with one of five unique hand-drawn artworks. Initially taking reference from traditional stained glass windows; expect lists of lists of capital cities covering the front of the backpack, alien invasion (one of our favourites), musical notes and prolific tourist paraphernalia of the 90s.
“Isamaya not only is known as one of the industry’s most agenda-setting make-up talents, she’s also a true multidisciplinary artist,” says Alasdhair Willis, Hunter’s Creative Director. “I felt that her imaginative concepts and her sense of humour was very much in-tune with Hunter.”
Ffrench is one of the most thrilling emerging talents to watch in the fashion and beauty industry today: she’s part of Theo Adams Company (London’s now-not-so-underground collective of artists, dancers, musicians, actors and singers), a Creative Artistic Consultant for Tom Ford Beauty and has collaborated on music videos with the likes of Kanye West, Katy Perry and Rihanna. The debut collection comes in mini (£255) and large (£325). Although get in there quick – this one’s set to be a sell-out…
Rubberised Leather Backpacks by Hunter x Isamaya Ffrench are available at Dover Street Market London 15th September and www.hunterboots.com.
