Introducing Lelloue: The new brand bringing back 90s poolside glamour

From the boat to the beach.

Our summer moodboard mostly consists of Cindy, Naomi, Kate and Tyra lounging on a boat, by the pool or with a cocktail in hand. So when we heard about Lelloue, a new resort wear range designed by PPQ’s Amy Molyneaux inspired by 90s poolside glamour, we naturally got very excited. Based on five themes – Leopard, Sailor Girl, Love Lace, Rose Rock and Black and Gold, the luxury line includes swimwear, chic cover-ups and full on sequinned gowns, designed to take you effortlessly from the boat, to the beach, to the bar.

Founded in partnership with business developer, Helen Johnson, Lelloue is all about living that fabulous life – remixing classic shapes with daring prints, embellishment and luxurious silks and satins.

We recently caught up with Amy at the launch of the label in Cannes – which included a performance from Shingai, and all the glamour you could wish for.

Hi Amy - what were some of your moodboard inspirations for Lelloue?

Being brought up on late 80s glamour 90s power dressing was everything to me. Dynamic shapes, structured simplicity. Double breasted jackets, gold buttons – who wouldn’t feel inspired? When I met Helen I could immediately tell she was comfortable in herself and her dress sense – she knows exactly what she likes. Having dressed people for over 20 years you can see it across the room. Some people aren’t open about drawing on the era they grew up in but I’m 100% hardcore gold and black, all the way!

Who would you most like to see wearing the range?

I’m all encompassing when it comes to customer base – you can never disregard anyone.I’ve had women in their 70s in my past shops oozing sex. And famous but boring 20-year-olds. The Lelloue women is about carefree confidence, for any woman of any age.

The brand has a wide range of price points – was this important to you to make it accessible?

This was hugely important to us – we wanted to be accessible to different kinds of customers, so we have our staple bikinis at £100, right up to £4000 for a hand embellished, couture dress. In between that you’ve got gorgeously made day dresses. A few pieces that won’t make a dint in the bank balance. And then depending on what your destination is you can ramp it up with some mega dresses or go slinky in some silk kaftans.

What’s the best summer holiday you’ve ever had?

With my friends Toby & Fenella in Ibiza. Always a pleasure! They hired a villa with novelty flag towels and we would fight for the best country! I don’t have to go on about Ibiza but whatever gas is being exuded from those rocks it is truly a beautiful, special place.

What can we expect next from Lelloue?

We are currently working on the next collection. But Lelloue won’t stop at clothing. Additions to the family include accessories, cosmetics and home.
