Meet John Lawrence Sullivan’s neo-punk rebels for SS19

Subcultural provocateurs.

[J]ohn Lawrence Sullivan is the master of 2k18 street dressing with a dark underbelly. Last season, designer Arashi Yanagawa drew inspiration from film history’s most iconic, hard wired psychopaths. For SS19, the Japanese-born talent moved away from cult cinema and focused his attentions on the IRL antiheroes of the late 70s underground punk scenes; from young subcultural provocateurs to Depeche Mode’s frontman Dave Gahan.

Graphics and prints are repurposed from the pages of Lurker Grand’s Hot Love: Swiss Punk & Wave, 1967-1980 (a chronicle of DIY zines, fashion and printed ephemera from the youth who defined the era). Gahan’s uniform of black leather trousers, midriff-baring tops and sharp-shouldered angular tailoring is reimagined anew, remixing heritage fabrics with subcultural inspirations.
