The rising Italian artist deconstructing high fashion to follow
Introducing Rebecca Coltorti.
[I]ntroducing the next-gen collage artist f**king with high fashion: Rebecca Coltorti. The 23-year-old – raised in a small town in Italian “far away from fashion cities” – first realised her cool cut-and-pastes was actually a viable career move after discovering Quentin Jones’ work three years ago. Since then, Coltorti has accrued an impressive CV, including editorials for the likes of Vogue Italia, l’Officiel and PAPER magazine. “I’ve found in Fashion the perfect world to express my creativity,” she tells us. “My passion for traditional techniques (collage, drawing, painting) and digital ones led me to my bold and quirky style, as I like to describe it.”
“I love mixing things that don’t make any sense when thinking about them together,” she adds. “They don’t have to be ordinary and boring collage pieces, but they still have to keep harmony. My main goal, when I’m creating an artwork, is to reach a visually exciting result, something you would stop by when scrolling your IG feed or something that makes you think “what the heck she was thinking while doing it?”
