How do you feel social media is affecting artistic outlets like zines?
Social media is vital as a platform for showcasing not only what you may be selling or creating, but in giving people a real insight into the personality of those behind your zine. It’s amazing looking into a little window of what people are creating on media outlets, when so many other media outlets are focussed on exclusivity and pushing people outside.
What can we expect from you next?
Femini as a platform, is growing both online, on social media, and in the response we’ve had to our print copies. We’re hoping to collaborate with so many artists, activists and other influential individuals which can be shared. Recently, we’ve started showcasing the opinions of men in our ‘Male Gaze’ series, which is so vital in understanding male perspectives on feminism – I think an area which is so often overlooked. The Femini team has just expanded and we’re looking forward to expanding our horizons and our outlook in who we are representing and the cultures which we’re shedding light on.
