How would you describe your artwork? What are you most inspired by?
My core theme of work is the fragility of life, with a focus on life, love, connection, and an exploration of the afterlife and the possibility of portals to other dimensions. I’m obsessed with visually interpreting unseen energy… my favourite institute, Heart Math, proved that the heart has an electro magnetic field several feet away from the body, 60 times greater than the brain waves recorded in an EEG scan. I create multi-sensory artworks about energy. Some time ago, Vogue named me the Queen of Skulls, yet now I’m more known for my neon artworks full of positive mantras such as ‘Everything is going to be Fucking Amazing’.
Talk me through the concept behind your second solo show ‘Walk Towards the light?
I feel that in these dark times, it’s hard not to be overcome by fear. We are seeing a world of potential nuclear war, terror attacks and the heart-breaking refugee crisis. This heavy world consciousness inspired me to focus on messages of unity, love and passion depicted in Walk towards the Light. To lift ourselves up it all starts with a flicker of light. I want to send an outpour of love and positivity. This is the essence of the work I present.
I’m releasing new Limited Edition neons and prints including ‘Together We Will Burn Brighter’, a new colour release of ‘Fucking Amazing’, an infinity neon version of ‘To the Moon and Back’ and an unusual piece… ‘Unraveling The Cluttered Mind’: A seven-colour neon squiggle that represents a state of mind. The entangled neon symbolises the voice inside our head – a voice of confusion and fear mixed with love and hope. The clashing colours fused together depicts this conflict. Yet there is an alluring aesthetic, within the messiness and the light shines on.
