Fashion brands adopting feminism can sometimes feel like jumping on the bandwagon, tell us how Wildfang stays authentic, and how this ethos began for the brand?
If you’re gonna play in this space and call yourself a feminist then you better walk the walk AND talk the talk. We are so proud of the work we do and every single person on our team believes in what we do. Last year we gave over $75k to charity, in January this year we raised $100k for the last abortion clinic in South Dakota. We’ve work hard to represent all women in what we do and ensure all women feels included – whether that’s our models, our communications, our events or our products (we’ve expanded our sizing up to size 20 this year). We really give a shit about what we do.
How does Wildfang continue to encourage female empowerment within and outside of the brand?
We believe a women can be whatever the hell she wants and wear whatever the hell she wants. This comes through in our commitment to offer products up to size 20, photographing models of different body types on our website, hero women off all different ages, ethnicities, and sexual orientation on our site, in our social channels, and at our monthly Free Speech events where we create a safe space for women to share their stories. At the end of the day, you can’t be what you can’t see and we’re working hard to ensure that more women are represented and more women’s stories are told.
