[O]n the final day of Milan Fashion Week MSGM’s Massimo Giorgetti turned the mirror back onto the city itself, with a collection inspired by Italy’s fashion capital. The love letter to Milan traversed all aspects of Italy’s glossy city, from the out and out glamour to the city streets, using models that were street cast from around Milan.
Giorgetti drew inspiration from Milan’s famed characters too, most notably the novelist and poet Alessando Mazoni, whose face appeared on invitations, but also Anna Della Russo, whose style influenced the shiny all black looks that opened the collection. Elsewhere the names of the city’s hotspots – Bar Basso, Jamaica, Pravda and Pasticceria Cucchi – were embroidered onto oversize football scarves and sweatshirts while the Milan skyline swirled across bright printed shirt and skirt combos. Mini handbags emblazoned with the letter M were the cherry on top of the cityscape collection.
