[R]udy Loewe’s works are unforgettable as soon as they emerge on your feed. Creating an Instagram which brings minority’s narratives to the foreground, their art subverts power structures and “starts difficult conversations around intersectionality”. As a black non binary femme, Rudy wishes to confront stereotypes and dispel gendered myths through their work: through comics and illustrations, the art centres around people of colour celebrating and chronicling their stories.
Exploring racism, gender, sexuality, mental health and disability, Rudy’s creations engages so deeply in the dialogue in simplistically creative techniques. The vibrant work Rudy creates is subtly conversational, and is always visually captivating. Using archival material material, their practise is inspired by Paulo Friere and bell hooks, teaching the importance of community in creation, and learning through art.
